Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) Eligibility


Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC), a feature of the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program,  is offered to certain individuals allowing them to temporarily continue their FEHB plan after their regular coverage has ended . You are eligible for Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) as a benefit through the FEHB Program if you meet the following eligibility requirement:

  • You are a federal employee and/or a family member of a federal employee who has lost their FEHB coverage due to a qualifying life event.

You will not be required to select the same health insurance plan option you were enrolled in when you were covered under a standard FEHB plan.

Upon enrolling in a TCC health insurance plan with MHBP or another FEHB plan, you must pay the full premium for the plan you have selected (that is, both the federal employee and Government shares of the premium), as well as a two percent charge for administrative services.
